I only have a kitty right now, and I love her to pieces. I grew up with a wonderful Shetland Sheepdog, and have also kept budgies in the past. I love most animals. Dogs and cats are my favorites, but of the two my energy level is better suited for cat ownership.
I'll always have cats, I think. Someday I'd like to have a dog again, and I'd also like to try keeping bunnies. I've also considered ferrets, snakes, and spiders.

I live on a micro-ranch. I have 11 cats, 2 horses, 3 donkeys, 7 goats, and 20 hens. In the past, I have also had a beta fish, but he ascended to fishy heaven.

At home, we have 2 dogs (both mutts that were roaming the streets), 3 cats (2 old strays, 1 adopted from an old neighbor), and 2 parakeets (petstore...I've never seen a stray parakeet.) Right now we're also taking care of a baby squirrel before taking him to a woman who gradually gets them back into the wild.
In the past, we've also had various fish, 2 pekin ducks (one stray and one we bought to keep it company), and hamsters (and more cats and dogs). From the backyard, we've taken care of a mockingbird with a broken leg and a bunny that our super-timid cat decided to catch for us. We also have been temporary homes for many lost animals until their owners were found. Mom says we're an animal magnet...
