I'm a lefty and have carpal tunnel syndrome so I try not to physically write. I tend to press really hard when writing regardless of the instrument. I like mech pencils because they don't smear and never need sharpening. Pencil sharpeners make me nuts!

Kind of depends on what I'm trying to do with said writing implement...but I do have a favorite gel pen on my desk right next to a nice mechanical pencil. Everything else is also in close reach in a can a bit farther back on my desktop and I have a giant box of colored pencils in the drawer too!

I know this will sound strange, but I specifically like to use the ballpoint pens that I get from hotels. My handwriting always looks so awesome with those. Since I work for a hotel, I have thousands at my disposal, so I am in hog heaven!

I usually use mechanical pencils. I love writing with gel pens even though I have a tendency to smear them. I use Sharpies all the time at work, I always get yelled at for using up all the ink in them, but they're so fun to write with that I cannot resist!

I, too, have a fascination with hotel pens. I also like wooden pencils- don't like the thin lead of mechanical pencils.

Either ball point pen or a mechanical pencil, though depending on what I'm writing I prefer the pencil because I hate having to use whiteout if I screw up.
...oh and those awesome pop a point pencils, so much nostalgia. xD
I'd love to learn how to use a quill pen someday though. =3

I vote for two things: mechanical pencils and other.
I use a mechanical pencil for most of my schoolwork, because my major is math-heavy.
I do use fountain pens for note-taking, mostly because it gives me a wider array of possible colors.

I prefer both drawing and writing with ballpoint. Mechanical pencils are good for drawing but I don't like writing with them.
