It depends, sometimes we ask for things we need rather than things we want. This year for my birthday he gave me a set of matching license plates from 1981 that I can put on my Cadillac this year since where I live, if you have a vehicle registered as an antique, you can run year of manufacturer plates, rather than the antique vehicle plates. I had spent some time looking for these a few years ago, he spent 6 months actively searching for them. It meant a lot to me.

For his birthday, he doesn't ever want to do anything to celebrate, saying it's just another day. But I still try to get him something nice and do something to let him know that I remember and want to do something special.

We don't place a ton of emphasis on making sure we do something special for birthdays or other holidays, since giving things to make each other feel special shouldn't be limited to a few days a year.

We usually leave it up to surprise. Over the year we just pick up on things we want and want to do, then choose amongst the best choices to surprise each other with.

We surprise each other and do something special, but don't overdo anything. He doesn't ask for anything so I usually have to be creative, but I enjoy that.

I know she's like to give me whatever I want - but that would be anal and she's not able to go there yet - so it's a birthday bj for me. For my part I will give her whatever she wants - but she's too shy to ask!

Oh well - we love each other fully and have a very rewarding sex life.

we don't do too much, but I am the planner in the family. I also have a baking obsession. I like to make cool cakes (castles, cars, etc.)

I usually receive gift cards to Barnes and Noble, my favorite comic shop, or sometimes she gets me some good cigars (I read alot and don't get cigars very often). I get her some flowers and usually a spa day. Massage, mani, pedi and sometimes a facial.

It varies, but I usually try to throw a small surprise party with one or two gifts that I know she wants with a cake or something sweet to eat. We usually get a bottle of champagne too. Usually one of the presents is something erotic while the other is not.

We really are not into birthdays or holidays at ALL. However, if there's something he wants, I'll try to oblige. (But not all gifts have to cost money!) No parties, no major presents, but maybe something small and thoughtful.

I cook him a romantic dinner, make a cake, throw a party (sometimes), and give him the one thing he wants most of all- oral from start to finish. That last thing is the one thing I hate to do above all others so it is truly a gift.

We give each other general ideas for gifts, but not usually specifics, so we know what sort of thing the other wants and can work off of that.

I honestly rarely receive gifts that I actually want. All that I've wanted for years and years is someone to cook for me and give me a nice, relaxing day. Have not received it yet. I've had people buy me things...sometimes. However, that's irrelevant. I am fine without receiving something - I prefer for my birthday to just be a regular day, nothing particularly special about it.

I generally am very sentimental when it comes to gifts - I try to give partners the best gifts when it comes to gifting things.
