How may of you are old enough to remember "turtles" in a kidney shaped bowl, with an "island" and plastic palm tree?

These little $1 bowls were sold just about everywhere in the 60's and 70's. as were the tiny green turtles (10 cents to a dollar). Even "turtle food" was found everywhere (yukky, once you realized it was freeze dried ant eggs and ants).

I used to have several. I think they are illegal to sell now. Kind of like the small monkeys they actually used to sell in the backs of comic books!!!

Guilty - at nearly 60, I'm plenty old enough to remember the turtle pet craze.

That was so neat!!! I guess it was before my time. I've never even heard of it. Too bad it's not still legal. Seems neat!

Oh I do, big time though never had one. I love my age and being able to fondly remember way back when things like this.

I've heard of those, but have never seen one. I was born in 1980, so just a little too late from the sounds of it.
