Second Life?

Contributor: Envy Envy
So I am curious... Being just a little newbie on it and just one who casually goes on from time to time... does anyone here 'play' Second Life? I try to get into it, have a few avatars (all anthro animals, no humans), but I find myself a wallflower on there more than anything. Can be pretty interesting if you just want to go on and observe human behavior and all, and sometimes funny things happen, too.

Anyone ever try it?

I have an account. The whole virtual reality thing just doesn't interest me that much, I signed up because it looked interesting and they had a Buddha center that I wanted to explore.

I played around with it a few years ago but promptly lost interest. All I ever really did was go around picking the money trees.

Oooo sounds awesome. That reminds me, I find it hard to talk to people on there sometimes as I don't know what gender to refer them by unless they're using a mic. My chars are female, but due to the body structure and the fact I wear men's clothing (mostly) and use male animation overrides, it can be hard to tell.

I have never played, and until very recently I had never even heard of it.

As if Baudrillard isn't already in my life enough, now he's taking over EF too?! Who's next, Foucault?!!

I just heard about it the other day. Kind of creeps me out, to be honest.

It was talked about on Judge Mathis once. This lady was being sued 500 bucks because she took too much out of her friend's Paypal for second life because she was a pretend prostitute on there. XD

NO FOUCAULT! I refuse too!

A room mate and his gf had to get on it for a class a couple years ago. I totally forgot about it until I saw this thread.

It's no so much a game as it is a chat service in which you walk around and create and can sell things and make real money. But you have to be pretty artistic and in some cases need to know how to model in 3D programs.

Heh, Sebby wears women's clothing a lot and women's animation over rides, but at his height it's pretty easy to tell he's a dude.

I think I started a thread on this awhile ago. Did you see it?

I don't go on it although I have studied people who use it. Most of them have anxiety disorders and it seemed that Second Life did more damage than positive progress so I would never recommend spending a lot of time there.

Huh, I never saw it before. How far back? (Maybe it was too far back for me or I skipped it by accident.)

I try not to spend a lot of money and make use of the freebies. If I spend anything I try not to go over 5 bucks every few months.

I've tried it before. I could never find any people? Idk maybe I was just lost or something. But it was so frustrating not seeing anyone, or when I did find people, they wouldn't talk to me.

Eh, I've tried it here and there but I don't find it as fun as, say, the Sims or even IMVU.
