Can you fall asleep with the lights on?

I usually fall asleep with a movie on. What do you require? Total darkness, partial light, or do you fall asleep with the lights on?

I can fall asleep with sunlight, regular lights,T.V. light and in the dark but if its dark I have to at least have music. I can sleep in pure silence though.

I can fall aslepp with the lights on, but they will wake me up in about an hour. I usally either read or listen to a book on tape at bedtime.

I can, but it's harder.

I need it to be quiet and dark in order to sleep. If there are lights on, at the most I'll just doze off and wake up in an hour or so. Same if there's music or a TV on.

Not any more, I need it to be as dark as possible.

I sleep best with just the bathroom light on, but I can sleep in full light.

I can fall asleep with the lights on easily. I try to make sure they're off simply because I don't need it on if I'm asleep. But I have to have the TV on or at least something else giving light. I'm afraid of the dark.

I used to need the TV left on with the volume set just low enough that I could hear it but wouldn't be distracted by what was being said. I grew out of that, but I occasionally leave the light on and just cover my eyes with the blanket... that must sound weird, but I find it comforting.

I rarely can sleep with lights on. The darker the better for me.

Most of the time no. Lately though, I put the TV on and the volume on very low. For some reason I have been having trouble sleeping in total darkness when alone. It sounds stupid but I just feel......more alone?

I can if I'm really tired.

No lights. No sound. I can't even fall asleep if the radio/tv is on. I can if the lights/computer is on but I wake up in the middle of the night every time (the little "sleep" light on my mac will even keep me up/wake me up sometimes)

I can fall asleep with lights on but it's not a deep sleep and it only happens when I'm really tired. I prefer complete silence and darkness.

I cannot sleep with the lights on. There can be a little light from the tv but I prefer it to be dark.

I can fall asleep with lights or no lights, sound or no sound. The only thing that I really can't stand is someone hammering nails or something similar.

I can fall asleep with the lights or TV on, but will eventually get up and turn them off. The scientific facts being now explored, are that ANY light...even a night-light, is disruptive to good sleep and thus bad for health.

Total darkness is now medically believed to be far better for sleep and health.

That's our problem too. Just plain massive fatigue and sleep deprivation from overwork hours during the week.

Actually, your description of "not alone" is a common one for people who do sleep with a TV on.

If I was tired enough I could fall asleep in the middle of a packed football stadium.

I can only doze off with lights or the tv on if I'm very very tired. Normally, I need it to be dark and quiet or I can't get any quality sleep.

Yup, I just did that a few days ago. I typically prefer to sleep in the dark though.

I've been known to enjoy a nap in the warm sunshine on occasion...
