Given the bull shit circumstances, is anyone not going to work on friday just in case something does happen? I was seriously thinking about this yesterday at work. If everything was to end, the last place I would want to be is stuck in that shit hole with all these dumb asses! So, think about that for a bit before you answer, would you really want to usher in the end of the world with your coworkers? Or spend it at home with the ones you love?
I mean if any of this was really true and all.

(Don't want to preach, but in this economy one might not want to look a gift horse in the mouth. )

I work from home so I'll be here until I can't be here anymore. Hubby is going into work that day.

Honestly, the sheepleness of this whole situation makes me want to hurl. I mean we do realize the Mayans are extinct for all intents and purposes, right? Maybe they just didn't get around to making another one. Will something dynamic occur that day or in the days following? It's possible, but the probability is about as likely as Cthulhu rising from the depths of the sea to give us a day of reckoning.

Hell, for all we know the whole thing is an elaborate scheme to fuck with present day people. Trolling wasn't invented with the internet.

Mayans have not dissipated entirely. Extinct is so not the right word.................. .

But regardless, my friend who is a part of the culture seems to be aware that the calendar really just happened to end on that day... It wasn't the Mayans predicting the end of the world, it was white people predicting it based on misunderstanding something, and I just highly doubt that anything is going to happen at all.

Yeah it wasn't the right word...I just couldn't put my finger on the one I was looking for without going into a really long statement about "obviously, there are still Mayan bloodlines blah blah blah". Ha! It's just been one of those days and I'm just gettin' started!

Luckily I'm off of school, so I won't need to go out anyway. That's a good thing too, I just wanna stay home and enjoy my holidays already.

I don't think the end of the world is happening though, so I would probably go if I had to, but the worst thing I think could happen is some crazies might loot or mug you that day. Be safe everybody!

Since the next Mayan calendar was calculating out an additional 6000 years, I am not worrying about anything till December 21, 8012. That is the day the world is ending.....or maybe....um.....maybe it's the day that the NEXT Mayan Calendar starts?

NOPE...sorry. You are wrong there. Something IS happening that day. Something very, very special. It's the day I am cashing out a stock and finishing payments on my kids medical school tuition loan. THAT, D.K. is a world changing event!!!! It means hubby and I can go out to dinner and not feel guilty about not adding a few cents onto paying off that loan! That is a hallmark, fireworks in the sky, oceans rise, dogs sleep with cats, and lions lay down with lambs of miracle day.

I'm not 'going' to work on Friday for two reasons. One, I work from home, so I'll be here anyway, and two, all the children and their parents have the day off, so I'll have no one here to care for!
