I feel the same way. Usually I follow when I'm browsing a current person's wall and see an interesting toy I'm interested in, if it's a good review... I usually follow them. If not so impressive to me (As if I can talk, lol) I usually don't. I don't spam follow or courtesy follow I guess.

I don't. I only follow people if I have a genuine interest in following them, perhaps in at some point making friends, and I would hope others want the same from me.

Exactly. Don't do it because you feel obligated.

I also may stop following someone I know has been inactive but will pick them back up when they come back. I don't like excess clutter even if it is just virtual. I'm pulling the OCD card.

I have, yes.

And I've followed a few people who haven't followed me back. No big deal...I realized -- I don't look at my wall! So I've kinda determined it's pretty pointless to follow anyone.

Hell yeah. And look what it did to us.

"Hi, Mom. Thanks for the Catholic Guilt. I worked so hard to overcome it, that I'm now a nymphomaniac and review sex toys as a side job. Thanks again." Hee hee hee hee.

Sometimes I will, sometimes I won't. For me, it depends on whether or not I've seen this person around the forums or on reviews. I generally don't follow people who pop up out of the blue.

I generally don't do courtesy follows. I follow those who interest me!

I try to check them out and see if their stuff is something I'd like to read regularly (doesn't always happen, though).

My thoughts are that following is sort of a "if you like my stuff you might also like"... thing.

Gotta say I am not liking the "New follower, follow me!" stuff. Its like your obligated? I mean, I probably would follow someone but when they make it obligatory then...

I'm in this boat too. I'm also in the position of being new here, so I'm trying to be active in the forum and with individuals. Following back people is a great way to see what people are up to. I can always change it if they become offensive or become inactive. Kind of like Twitter....

In other corners of the Internet, I've found that returning a friending/following/wh atever is the best way to get to know others. You can always unfollow if they turn out to be raving lunatics.

I followed a few to see how to do it but they are all people I think are active and interesting on the forums or else they had a review I liked. I think being new I'd follow back peeps cuz it pulls up different things on the feed that I may not have noticed otherwise. I guess that could be subject to change as I get more active. Is a lil stalkerish in a ok way lol

Sort of? If someone follows me I will look at their profile and their reviews, and if I think I want to keep reading their contributions then I will follow them.

I'm new enough that if someone follows me, I'm going to follow them. I imagine that if I stick around long enough to have more followers, I may pick and choose.

I'm several weeks behind and always afraid I'm going to forget someone.

I'm a Space Cadet, and busy as hell, so give me some time.

It really depends. Sometimes I do because it was someone I had made a note of following but never remembered to. Other times, I check out their profile and they seem cool or write good reviews, so I follow them. But, there are times where I just don't follow back because the person's contributions don't seem interesting or helpful to me. It's definitely based on a few different factors.

Agreed. There seems to be a huge influx of this exact message at the moment.

I had to post that you are a weirdo. But only because I couldn't answer either of the other choices. I am far more likely to follow somebody if they have followed me, but I won't make a decision until I have checked out their profile and at least one review. Most of the people I follow other than that are people who I am interested in following because of things they have posted in the forum.

don't see the point in doing that.. then you get all these people you're following and you don't know or like half of them! kind of like facebook. someone adds you and you feel obligated to add them even though you dont want to. you get a whole mess of people on your friends list and you start seeing all kinds of spam from them. it gets messy.

I do like to "know" the person first. Either have conversed with them on a thread, reviews or through PMs or something. A while ago, I would courtesy follow people, and half of them disappeared in only a few weeks or months. It got frustrating.

i did when i first started, but not for all folks. just those i found something a bit interesting about. i dont really follow people any more unless i see them doing something i really want to be part of. like writing great reviews or being a great leader in the community.
