Tips about EF I wish I knew about sooner

Here's one I just answered in another thread regarding Free Assignments. We are limited to one EF sponsored free assignment per month. However, there are also free manufacturer sponsored products for review. These items are first come first served and are not limited to one per month. However, you can only have one review assignment at a time. less

There is also a monthly calendar with all of the community events listed (club meetings, Rumbles, parties, etc.).

Related to this, you can also request coupon booklets that you can pass out to anyone you come in contact with and you get a percentage of whatever they buy.

In the most recent Community Events Committee (CEC) meeting (link, we discussed a lot of great ideas. Among them was the common theme that newbies can easily be overwhelmed by how much the site and community have to offer. While there is still some discussion as to how best to present all of this information, I was thinking we could start making a list of helpful tips that we didn't necessarily know about immediately.RSS feeds: I tried to read every review when I first joined but was frustrated with how quickly new reviews posted. The Review Page only lists the 30 most recent reviews. Similarly, the Community News Page only lists the last 60 reviews. At the rate reviews are pumped out these days, reviews are quickly bumped off the page. My solution, which I didn't learn about for a few weeks, is to subscribe to the RSS feed. That way, I never miss a review again. How do you do that? For those unfamiliar, simply select the little square range icon on the Community News page and subscribe using your reader of choice.Alerts: Did you know that you can set an alert and be notified by email on a number of different things on the website? You can set one for an out of stock item and be notified as soon as it is back in stock. That there's a Product Search feature for when you're hunting for that next assignment. Yeah, it took me forever to find it and I had no idea what everyone was talking about. In your "Account" view, click "Review Program" and in the new menu on the left hand side of the screen will be the "Product Search" engine. You can apply your material preferences, a price range, and if you don't want any reviews done on the items. less

For those that have not yet noticed, there is an Upcoming Events calendar on the Community News and Forum page. The view can be sorted by Agenda (current default), Week, or Month. Also, the calendar can be imported into Google Calendar by selecting the button in the lower right hand corner. You can select which calendar events you would then like to add to your personal calendar and never miss another meeting/event again! less

To find manufacturer sponsored items, go to:

Account-> Review Program -> Product Search

Then set up the search for "For Free Assignment" and "Manufacturer Sponsored"

When I look on the "Product Search" page, there are no longer the six options beneath the "manufacturer" drop down menu. So you can't click on "manufacturer sponsored" since it isn't there any more. Has this part of the search engine been discontinued? less

The ones badly circled in red do not appear on my screen. (Sorry, I don't know how to take a picture of my screen, so I just saved the pic provided and circled the bits that were missing when I opened that page.) Are those options something that appears only when you reach a certain rank? less

Here's a shopping tip I discovered recently:

Ever wish you could send a special gift to a member of the community but they don't happen to have it on their wishlist? No problem! As long as they have a public wishlist with the gift registry activated (this is very important), you can send them anything you want from EF. Simply add any item from their wishlist into your shopping cart. This captures their information for shipping. You can then add any other item you want, even if it is not on their wishlist. Then, simply delete the original item you added from their wishlist. The remaining items will still be sent to their shipping address. Also, don't forget to add a free gift option as a bonus! less
