To circumcise or not?!

My little three month old is still uncircumcised, due to the fact that he was born early and they were unable to do it then, and now we just don't know what to do. Men, are you circumcised? And is it that big of a deal? I can't see hurting little beeboo over something silly.

I don't get the "So he looks like his father" arguments. It makes no sense to me. Should girls' nipples be reshaped so they look like their mothers'? Honestly, to me that makes about as much sense. But that's my opinion.

It's a very personal decision that should be made with your and your husband. There's been a huge change in the way people feel about it, and it seems that less and less parents are choosing to go through with the surgery.

It's not necessary, and can always be done later on in life should your son decide on it. Do some research, seriously talk with your husband about it, and do what YOU feel is right for YOUR son... less

I am a big proponent of keeping things as nature intended whenever possible. The foreskin really DOES serve a purpose. The penis is meant to be more of an internal organ (covered & protected by foreskin) rather than an external organ (without foreskin) getting rubbed and exposed to urine & feces in a diaper.

The thing about circumcision is this: Keeping a penis intact needn't be permanent if the penis owner wants to change it at any point in the future. He can always decide to remove his foreskin for himself, should he want to.

Circumcising a penis is permanent, and if the penis owner later decides he'd prefer to have a foreskin in the future it is a rather involved and pain-staking process - and the damage done to the penis over years of being exposed/rubbed raw can't be entirely reversed. less

EdenFantasys' forums strike me as supportive of sexual pleasure. So WHY would people who like sex toys even consider circumcision? Circumcision removes the foreskin and much of the penile frenulum and, with them, all their thousands of nerve endings. Those tissues are not only pleasurable but are erogenous zones. The British Journal of Urology published a study that pointed out that the five most sensitive areas of the penis are removed by circumcision. If you're a woman, how would you feel if you had to have your clitoral hood removed?

Men can have foreskin-based orgasms, even multiple orgasms. Women around here are intrigued by different orgasms: clitoral, g-spot, cul-de-sac, etc. Shouldn't men also have all the different kinds of orgasms they can?

Circumcision causes the glans to become dry and make the epithelium thicker with age, akin to scar tissue. Feel the soft moist mucosal tissue on your lips, inside your mouth or inside your vagina; now comapre that to the skin under your feet.

As has been pointed out in previous comments, circumcision does not benefit health or decrease STD transmission. These beliefs are myths; the proof is that circumcision is uncommon in Europe and medical studies have compared the health and sexual well-being of adult uncircumcised European males to those of adult circumcised North American males. Also, in infants, the foreskin protects the penis from fecal matter in diapers. The popularity of circumcision in North America isn't due to religious tradition but due to the advocacy of Dr. John Kellogg in the 19th century as a means to curb masturbation; yes, that's the same Kellogg who invented corn flakes.

If someone wants to get a circumcision for religious (or other) reasons, he can choose to do so as an adult. A child doesn't have the choice not to be circumcised.
