Too tired to sleep?

Contributor: SMichelle SMichelle
Have any of you ever been so tired that you can't sleep? Lately, I've been experiencing this more and more. My eyes, body, and mind will all be completely exhausted, to the point that it is difficult for me to even hold my head up, and yet I find it impossible to fall asleep.

I sometimes have problems like that. If I have, I need to have an orgasm and afterwards I will fall asleep immediately.

Yep. When I'm here at 4am, that's insomnia. I hope it's only temporary for you! I've had it for a couple of years, starting when I stopped working night shift after many years of working nights.

Eugler: For me, orgasms are always nice and relaxing, but they generally don't induce sleep, unless I was probably going to sleep anyway.

I have many nights like that and I hate it. My boyfriend rubs my back and legs and it helps so much

Yes...very frustrating. I get really irritable when I'm tired.

Happens to me all the time. My boyfriend just can't understand it either.

Yes--this happens to me frequently, then becomes a bad habit of insomnia. Sorry you have to deal with this, it is hateful!!

Happens to me all the time. I hate it. I usually just lay in bed and watch something on Netflix with my TV sleep timer on. Although last night I had to reset the sleep timer three times because I just could not fall asleep.

Well, after I posted this, I took two Benadryl that knocked me out. I don't want to get into that habit, though. For awhile, I could only sleep if I took Advil PM or Benadryl, but I don't want to be dependent on medication again.

People have suggested Melatonin to me, but I haven't tried that yet.

That's what is going on with me right now. I'll be tired all day like today and now I'm not. I hate it. I took a nap for maybe 20 minuets but that's it, I got my butt up and went to the gym.

Yes. Right now, I think! I have these weird-o phases, I guess is the word. Every 3-4 months, I'll have one whole week (for no reason that I can find) where I'll only sleep 4 or 5 hours (on the dot!) every single day. Some weeks it's 4 hours, some 5. It's crazy and I hate it. I cannot figure out what is going on. It's happened to me for at least a year now. It started again just today. I even went and bought Unisom to hopefully force myself to sleep and to stay asleep. Part of it, at this particular time could be due to the people who constantly wake me while I'm trying to sleep though, but it feels like one of those damn phases.

Anyways, yes, it'll get to the point where I feel like I'm so damn tired. All over. My mind, body and everything. Exhaustion! And still, it's like I'm too exhausted to stay asleep. I took about a 40 minute nap earlier tonight and am doing okay now. But I'll still need actual sleep, so in a while, I'm trying me some Unisom! Gosh, I pray it knocks me out.

this happens to me often, more often when im home. i take a medication to help be fall asleep, but some night i'll be up late (on the computer) and start to get tired and ignore my bodies initial response to actually sleep, causing me to stay up into the early morning until my body crashes. I know having the TV on or using the computer before going to bed is what is keeping me up, but i havent had internet access in close tot two weeks so i'm really milking it right now.
