Unsweet vs. Sweet

I have 1 1/2 cups of sugar to a gallon of iced tea... if I'm going easy on the sugar.

On the other hand, it depends on the tea itself if I put sugar into my hot teas. If it's a really good house blend, or a fine green tea, I sometimes drink it without sugar.

I love sugar in my tea. A pitcher of tea needs at least a cup and a half, preferably two or three. Yeah, I'm a diabetic waiting to happen...

SWEEEEETTTTT tea. , however, I live in the SOUTHERN USA. Even now, I went to a diner in Detroit and asked for "sweet tea" and the waitress brought me a teabag, hot water container and a basket of sugar packets!!!!!

TOO FUNNY. I enjoy that too, but no matter how much sugar you add to cold tea, you can NEVER get it as sweet as making real sweet tea...with sugar added when HOT.

I like my tea unsweetened and pretty weak.

UNsweet. Sugared tea makes me sick. I ALWAYS have to specify 'unsweet' whenever I go out and they still sometimes don't get it.

I've lived in the south for most of the past 25 years of my life, and I still couldn't get into it. My family's from the mid-west (virtually The North) and my dad and I are avid iced tea drinkers (yes, even Sun Tea). We keep joking that we should open up a barbecue place with unsweet tea and properly smoked meats and call it "Damn Yankee Barbecue" because there won't be ANYTHING served with sugar in it.

I never add sugar when the tea is hot. That's how you get that funky ass syrup in the bottom. I let it cool to room temp, add water, then add the sugar and stir vigorously.
