Used Car (pre owned) or New Car (at least till you drive it out of the showroom)...which do you PREFER?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
Assuming you can afford either one, do you CHOOSE to drive a used care (no huge initial depreciation, no huge car payment) or do you prefer that factory new smell (which is, of course, cancer causing and toxic...but that is another story)?

Which is best to YOU?

USED!! I get bored with my cars very easily and like getting newer ones every few years. I currently have a classic 71 Chevy truck in near perfect shape I am going to start to restore--not that it will take much, Grandma kept it garaged for many many years!!!

I only buy new since I had my son. No matter how much I loose, it's better than being stuck on the interstate we drive every day due to some breakdown from an old car with issues.

Used car (no idea how the previous owner treated it or if the dealer made necessary repairs) versus New car (depreciates the moment you drive it off the lot, higher insurance rates)? How about No car?

New car. Although the dealerships claim 'pre owned' cars functions just as good as a new car, it's still a used car to me.

I've only ever had a used car, but if I could afford new I'd go with that. It also depends a lot on HOW used, and make/model.

I always like used cars. I just feel like I waste too much money if I were to go after a new one. Plus as long as you have a trusted dealer, they're usually just as good and already have some kinks worked out. I bought the car I have now used and it's been going strong for 6 years.

I have never known anyone who could afford a "new car." The newest car my parents ever bought was over 4 years old and our most recent car is a 2001, so that is over 10years old. It doesn't matter new or used; they all require work, they all breakdown, and they all cost you in the end. We drive what we can afford to drive.

Year or two used, you save good money and they tend to be reliable

I'd rather get one that was leased- so used.
