Vicodin VS Percocet

Contributor: GONE! GONE!
Oh, Percocet. It knocks me on my butt and I love it but I'm allergic to it. I took it when I got my wisdom teeth out and it made me throw up like crazy. There's nothing worse than barfing after oral surgery, let me tell ya!

Itching is a sign of allergic reaction to codiene. Some people itch, but are just fine on them and some cannot take them. My mom started itching when taking them once and as she kept taking them over the course of a week, the reaction got worse and worse. She cannot take it.

I do fine with all codiene. I can take them with little itching or none. I personally like Percocet better than Vicodin. I had Vicodin for a surgery on a keloid on my ear and they weren't near as pain-killing as the Percocet I've had after surgery for endometriosis and then for root canal, wisdom extraction and other dental shit. Lol. Vicodin hasn't ever did the trick for me. Can't even get rid of a headache with that stuff for some reason.

I've started taking 2 of the vicodin 5/325 and one sleep aid pill- diphenhydramine. It makes me super tired and apparently the sleep aid increases the effect of the vicodin so I like that I can take just sleeping aid instead of extra medicine that will hurt me worse. I wish the effects worked longer though, it is so hard to wake up after about 5 hours and hurt so bad. It seems like it only lasts ALMOST the 4 hours for me before I'm in excruciating pain.

I thought it was weird that the percocet didn't work for me. The doctor said it was the strong stuff, so I kinda assumed it would be better for my first surgery.

I've only ever had vicodin, once when I had swine flu (ugh) and it made me sick as a dog. Then when I had my wisdom teeth out and now. Seems to have a different reaction each time.

I didn't take any pills after my wisdom teeth were removed. It just wasn't that painful for me. I do have a pretty high pain tolerance.

Well, I probably could have lived without them... but why would I want to when I don't have to? It's nice to get an excuse to get the pain medicine and sleep a bunch, then bf has to take care of me bwahahaha.

I get that from both of those. I can't stand either one of them. I've had them prescribed to me and tried to take them for "fun." Nothing fun about itching and feeling like you drink 30 pots of coffee in one sitting. I don't take any pills not even vitamins. I smoke weed. Works way better than any pill I've ever taken.

Coffee? Geez, when I take percocet I feel that way but when I take Vicodin I can't keep my eyes open even if I want.

I would much rather be up and productive, though. Sucks not being able to lift or anything for 2 weeks

Percocet made me ridiculously emotional and loopy when I had my wisdom teeth pulled.

I suffer from extreme chronic pain 24/7 and take vicoden almost daily. I have found that Tramadol works better than vicoden however and allows me to think clearly and study or even get chores done much better than vicoden. Plus less risk of addiction. However Tramadol also makes people overestimate what they can do, which in my case lead to me stupidly doing a bunch of chores and feeling dizzy falling down and hitting my head badly on concrete step. Causing a serious concussion and the post concussive syndrome.
So they are serious risks involved with both but if you have to take ether i recommend only taking the smallest dose only as often as you absolutely have to and every other time take something safe like naproxen or Advil, etc.

Over the counter pain meds and Vicodins do nothing for me. I have to let myself relax for Percocets to work. I miss Darvocets!

I've never taken either. My mom's on Percocet for her nerve damage pain, and it makes her fucking goofy. Dad hates it, but it's the only thing (with MS Contin - morphine) that makes her function remotely normally. Otherwise, she's screaming in pain.

It sure makes me nauseated, as well as many people I know! It always depends on the individual.

As for the "All pills are horrible" comment just above this one, that's a ridiculous blanket statement & since there is no emoticon or something to lead me to think you aren't totally serious, I felt the need to point out that pills are the only thing keeping some people alive! Perhaps you meant something more along the lines of, the less medicine, e.g., pills, a person takes the better? That I would not argue with.

I voted "other" & will say, give me morphine! Not that I'm ever going to get any, but I have found it works really well while in hospital, better than Demerol, & certainly better than Percocet or Vicodin!
