Yeah, I love alienware, that's the only one i'd buy. I can picture myself with an Asus as well, they really know what quality means.

Currently we have a HP Laptop and a custom built desktop. Both of them are pretty good, no complaints.

You can even mod your computer case.

I had a Gateway desktop that I liked okay but the Geeks at best buy fried my motherboard so it's gone. Got a Dell Inspiron Laptop and it's been fine - no complaints.

Mostly, we build our own. No sense in spending extra money on a computer that isn't as good as the ones we can build for half the price and can do twice as much!

I've got a 7 year old Dell, with a gateway mouse and a HP keyboard. It's a hodgepodge of things! But I have no choice but to like my ancient computer,it's all I've got for at least another year.

I have a Toshiba. My previous laptops were HP and the eMachines - I had quite a bit of problems with both. I've not had any problems with my Toshiba, so I am VERY fond of it.

For computers we have always been huge fans of TOSHIBA, but now that we have a PAD, our ASUS eee Pad is AWESOME!!!!!

I bought my first Mac 5 years ago when my HP desktop and Dell laptop both began locking up regularly. I'm using that same Mac to type this post (MacBook Pro) and in 5 years it's only failed me twice. The first was after an Apple security software update (easy fix, just downloaded the update again from a flash drive) and the other was a year ago with what turned out to be a factory defect with the motherboard. Despite being 4 years old at the time, Apple replaced the motherboard free of charge.

I don't game so my computers are only used for basic functions (internet, basic spreadsheets/documents ) and I've been extremely happy with my MBP. I was disappointed that my Dell only lasted a few years before giving me constant headaches.

I have a mac laptop because the wireless card was the easiest-to-use and strongest when I bought the computer (2006?)

For a desktop, because I need a bunch of graphics-heavy software for work, I built my own. I ... if I had to get one from a 'brand' I would probably have gone with Lenovo? But I don't really have a lot of trust for any of the companies listed. My folks used to like Dell, but their customer support went from 'fabulous' to 'absolutely miserable' a few years ago, so they have me build new systems for them now.

Other - I build my own from the case on up. For laptops, Sony for PC, or Mac if for school.

Interesting to read your experience. I have been using Intel/Microsoft PC and laptops since the early days in the late 80s. In all that time I've had countless little glitches and freezes - but never any high-end failures as you described.

I have nothing against Apple - I just can't justify paying 3x the upfront cost to avoid the occasional re-boot. Good luck...

Mine's an HP Pavilion and I mostly like it. Though I'm beginning to realize I need more RAM than this particularly model has in order to do some 3D modeling.

The nice thing about PCs is that adding RAM is usually quite easy, I've done it at least once with every computer I've had. Adding RAM to MACs is either very difficult or impossible - and always expensive.

i have a 2011 macbook pro and even though the price is a little expensive they are pretty nice. I spent about $1,200 on mine. I also have a 2009 dell and that is also fairly nice, it just depends on what you have used in the past

I go with Sony Vaois ALL the way. My laptops have lasted me forever from them, and as did my desktop. However, I recently needed a tower, and it turns out that Sony only sells those All-in-One computers. Grr. So now I'm with an HP for a tower, and we've had no problems with it. The boyfriend's Macbook ended up starting to die and fall apart long before my Sony Vaoi did (and it cost 4x more), so I really would not recommend Macs.

I really wanted a Sony Vaois, but I wasn't able to find them in stock around here.
