We're currently in the middle of transitioning from DirecTV to using a Roku player with Amazon's streaming service and Hulu plus.

I got rid of my Directv a year ago. I asked my dsl provider to raise my bandwidth to the highest offered which when my account was reviewed, ended up costing me less. I receive close to 40 channels on regular antenna. Streaming is mostly through an xBox.

Theres only a few shows that I watch. usually its our "hubby and wifey night" to sit down together and just cuddle on the couch. We don't have cable (I refuse to pay an outrageous amount for 250 channels of crap), so we just watch what we have on basic channels or watch netflix/hulu.

DirectTV was the only choice in the apartment complex. We had never had satellite before, but after more than a year, we are very satisfied with it. We have all the premium channels and a DVR, and we are perfectly happy.

Most shows I have interest in watching are available on Netflix and/or Hulu, so those are my sources. Sometimes I'll watch Showtime or HBO shows at a friend's house.
