What do you do with all your boxes and packing materials from EF?

Contributor: mpfm mpfm
I have an ever growing pile of boxes and packing material in my bedroom. Happily my discovery of EF has coincided with clearing out other clutter (old clothes, coats, books, knick knacks etc). I've been able to use the boxes to pack up stuff to donate. That won't last forever though. I only have so much clutter.

What does every do with the boxes? Recycle, Throw out, Keep for when you need a box? I can see it may become a dilemma for me at some point.

I am terrible with this stuff. I have boxes behind the LaZBoy in our bedroom, in one of our spare rooms and even in my closet. I have started throwing away or recycling the packing paper, as it was all over.

I tend to mildly hoard stuff like this. However, at Christmas everyone came to me for boxes to both give and ship gives in.

I really have to clean behind my chair...

I fold all of the packing paper into stacks and then put them in a box for future use. All of the boxes get stacked in a corner of my closet (broken down) and then once every few months I leave them at the recycle station outside of the bins so people can snag them if they want them. (After I've peeled off the mailing labels, that is.)

I agree, they're great for Christmas time. That's 10 months away though. I can't imagine the pile I'll have by then.

Sometimes save them, often they sit in a pile for a while until I can recycle them or throw them away.

I save all the boxes (that don't get destroyed in the mail) and packing paper for birthday presents and especially Christmas! We have an upstairs coat closet (nowhere near any doors) that is specifically used to store boxes in! There are a few other things in there too (table leaf, presents bought ahead of time, I also use the space to do things like ferment cabbage into Sauerkraut) but the majority of the space is cardboard boxes come November and December!

Throw them away mostly. Unless I have something specific in the near future where I know I'll need boxes.

I always end up ordering a ton of stuff, which leaves me with lots of bigger boxes just kind of laying around. I break them down, and hoard them till I have to move.

They are filling up my apartment. I need to save a few for sending items out.

I recycle most of it, but when we near holidays or other times I might need to give gifts, I save the boxes and paper for wrapping.

The long brown sheets of packing paper I use for laying out over my sons table for finger painting. I think those came from Eden, maybe it was amazon. Whatever, they are plain brown hugs sheets of paper and make perfect paper for finger painting before they go in the recycling.

I use the paper for the cat box liners and to wrap gifts throughout the year in and the boxes for shipping items for ebay sales.

I keep the packing paper because I ship stuff that I make and sell. But the boxes we are using right now because my mother in law is moving to phoenix for school and after that we will recycle them.

I save them. You never know when you might need a box or twelve.

I don't have much space to save them so they go in the dumpster.

I keep a few around in case I need a box for some reason, but I put most of them in recycling.

I use them to collect recycling, or keep in case I need to ship something!

This is a good idea. I have been throwing out the brown paper, but it would be perfect for finger painting or coloring. It's nice and thick and I think would flatten easily.
