What do you leave with your pets if they stay behind in an evacuation?

We have a dog, cat, bird and fish. They ALL leave with us. Dog in car, Cat in car in carrier. Bird in "travel box" cage and fish in two large buckets with firm tops and "battery bait pumps" running little box filters. NO ONE stays behind at our house.

However, if YOU leave any pets behind, what provisions do you leave them and what precautions do you take to keep them safe?

I currently do not have any pets, but if I did they would NOT be left behind. Family member on the other hand...

To be honest, and I now feel horrible about this, but my first thoughts had nothing to do with my fish. My dogs would be leaving with us absolutely no question, and the cat would be in her carrier and coming along as well. I didnt even think of the fish at all, but now that you've mentioned it...time to get some provisions! Didnt knot there were battery pumps though. Good to know.

I would never even think of leaving my dog behind. He gets anxiety when I leave him with my parents for a weekend, there is no way he would survive alone for an extended period of time.

I would NEVER leave my babies behind. If they can't go, then neither do I. They are like our kids and no one would leave their kids behind!

Haha I see you guys don't value your fish as much as furry friends, my question is then, why bother having them? I'm not fond of fish , they actually scare me, so I wouldn't have one anyway, though I never quite understood what the point of keeping one was. I would take my animals wif me wherever I go. (Y'know, if it were permanent! Not to work sadly.)

I wouldn't leave my dog. But I'd hesitate for my girlfriends.

I will fit all 3 cats, all 3 dogs and a 55 gallon fish tank in my tiny PT cruiser to get them out with me even if I have to tie family members to the roof of the car to make all of my babies fit

No family member of ours would ever be left behind, even the ones with multiple legs, fur, or fins. Oh yeah, and we'd take our pets too
