There is a GREAT old book called the FAR ARENA. I wish they would make it into a SCI FI movie. Would be GREAT. It's about a ROMAN GLADIATOR who gets frozen in ice and reanimated in modern times. Sounds hokey, but it is a great study in that he LEARNS quickly to adapt to modern technology, but his observations about OUR time are cuttingly accurate..and more honest. The bottom line is that PEOPLE are PEOPLE and have not changed a whit in all that time anyway. Great old book. Still a good summer read.

Hmmm....that's a tough one, and I don't know if I can name one over all.

I think the best Sci-Fi book I ever read was Dune. The movies were crap, but the book was just fantastic.

For Horror/Sci-Fi, I'd say probably The Talisman and Weaveworld.

For Horror I can't name just one.

I'd have to ponder other categories .

I'm always a fan of Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. I just finished reading State of Wonder by Ann Patchett. That was really good.

I really liked reading Stephen King's Dark Tower series. There's also a book I was randomly given that is pretty awesome, The Far Pavilions by M.M. Kaye.
