What is the biggest "pest" in your area?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
We have lots and lot's of wasps this year. They are scary big and will bite even if you walk by their nests. We have ground wasps and paper wasps...both hard to spot sometimes. What is the biggest pest in your area? How do you deal with it?

Well.... if it's just animals, than gypsy moths. There's not much I can do about them though. > _ <

We also have a problem with invasive blackberries. There are groups of volunteers that go out and pull them, and try to get rid of them as best we can. I just did one of those volunteer groups this morning.

Centipedes! Man, I hate those things. I usually scream and then squish them.

Also, field mice become an issue in the winter. Most houses outline their property with vinegar, which supposedly keeps them away. I've always had cats, so no issue for me.

mosquitoes! I walked onto my back prtch to see the mini pond i have is full of their nasty little eggs. i guess i'm going to have to plant all the stuff i have in it and dump out the water :/
However there are some more serious pest like the invasive species around, both plants and animals.

Thats why there's a hunting season for white tailed dear, since they populate so quick and their populations would other wise not be controlled. They tend to not fear people so much because when people do spot them they end up leaving out food for them or trying to feed them. Their not an invasive species, but a distractive one in rural areas where they have little to no predators aside form us.

Spiders. They are freaking all over this region. They aren't deadly but leave their webs everywhere.

Recently though I have been more annoyed with the mole living in my yard.

Ticks. I live right near Lyme, Connecticut. If that sounds familiar it was where Lyme disease was discovered. /eyeroll
