I'm left handed. People think I'm right handed since I wear my watch on my left hand. People always ask "oh you are left handed" You can only say yup.

Imma righty! I've tried writing with my left (and on a few occasions, I've HAD to) and it's horrible. A five year old could write better.

I am right, my sons, 1 right, 1 left; 5 brothers & sisters, 3 right, 2 left. I remember they tried to force my sister to use her right hand when we were little, of course that was in the late 50's.

I recommend reading this Wiki article to find out more about the negative connotations and about being left-handed in general. For the record, I think it's all a bunch of nonsense to treat left-handed people that way. I mean, really, it's so messed up.

My mentally ill mother actually scalded my left hand in burning hot water to discourage me from using my left hand. This was in the 60's. I was about 1 1/2 to 2 years old. She was a terrible abusive woman (and still is) and I know no one advised her to do this. I recently saw pictures of me that were hidden away showing my burned hand. I didn't actually remember it.Asked Grandma why my left hand was always burned when I was a baby- Grandma told me why it was burnt. Nonetheless I still use my left hand. I guess she couldn't burn me anymore when I could talk and maybe tell someone who would lock her up for child abuse. Grandma said she couldn't do anything to stop her. I don't believe that. Just saying; worse things than a spanking or hitting were being done against left handed people.

I'm pretty sure I was left-handed when I was a kid (a wee bit hard to remember back that far), but had it trained out of me. I write with my right hand but can write more neatly with my left hand (although it's slightly more difficult). Can do most other activities ambidextrously.
