I have a friend who absolutely loves to throw bonfire parties. He's been doing it for over two decades now. They were much more rowdy when we were younger, but they never get old.

I had a hard time choosing between costume parties and small dinner parties at home. I adore costume parties, but small dinner parties are just so fun and cozy. I ended up choosing costume parties just because I rarely get to go to them, so they're a special treat!

Camping out with friends on the beach is my favorite kind of party. Not that I've been to a party like that, but I have been camping around a bonfire with friends and family and I absolutely love it. The outdoor smell, the crackle of the fire, stupid boys melting beer bottles over the flames. It's just all too familiar and fun.

I also really love costume parties though.

Definitely black tie parties. I mean, hey, every now and then a BDSM party is good too. So is a bonfire or dinner party. But my favorite is definitely the upscale, wine and platter parties.

Small dinner parties - they lend themselves so well to themes with food, wine, music, movies, indoor/outdoor, and conversation. I mastered hosting them when I was married. Never did a candlelight supper ... people like to see what they're eating and who they're talking to.

(Hyacinth would be disappointed in me. )

Right now, with this upper 60 degree weather in Michigan I'm enjoying... the bonfire would be amazing! I love a handful of these choices though.

Overall, I think parties are great no matter what kind!

I like my parties small, maybe because I never was invited to big parties I like knowing everyone there, and I like being able to relax and just be me instead of meeting a friend of a friend of a friend and pretending to be interested in what they're saying to me. Also? I want good food. If the food sucks, I'm not going.

Costume party all the way, or theme parties. Anything where I get to dress up and reveal my inner nerd. It's fun to see how creative people get, and there's always the lazy person's fallback costume... toga toga toga!

I've actually never done the toga thing, possibly because I never have enough safety pins around. My "laziest" costume ever was dressing up as the color black. I'd say about 30% of my wardrobe is black clothing, so it wasn't really a costume at all.

I too had a hard time choosing! I love big wild keggers, but I also like staying home with a few close friends. But in the end nothing beats a beach and a bonfire! I also have very fond memories of the costume parties we used to have in college. I always went as The Condom Fairy! Complete with basket of condoms to hand out promoting safe sex!

I totally love bonfires but in this part of the country, this type of party is impossible for much of the year...too damn cold. Overall, for me, it depends on the people there. Puke parties absolutely turn me off, I leave like a shot.
