What should I do to heal after dental work?

Contributor: bog bog
I just got some dental work done, and it was painful. There is no bleeding, but there is swelling and throbbing. What should I do to alleviate the pain?

Swish with salt water and take an Advil.

Gently swish with warm salt water every 15 minutes. This is an amazing help and relieves a lot of the pain and discomfort.

Using toys won't really make you heal faster but you really won't care about the pain for a while!!

Sleeping is the only way I get through being sick or not feeling well!

Ibuprofen and warm salt water rinses. Depending on the type of work I might have other suggestions.

Capture a unicorn and take a nap on its back . When you wake up, you'll be someplace magical!

That's what I want anyway..

I would say call the dentist's office and ask what they recommend but I suspect they will say an analgesic and a nap.

napping always makes me feel better

Other than that, a long bath or shower! There's something about being clean that makes me feel better in general.

I ALWAYS take a nap after the dentist and I always feel better once I finally wake up (which is normally hours later lol)

Take a nap but I would also say suck on ice chunks or popsicles... I wouldn't do ice cream because it creates phlegm. Ice packs on the cheeks will also feel good

Other than the unicorn, these were all serious ideas that I had about how to heal! As it turned out, even though it wasn't a popular suggestion, I *did* end up using toys later on, and it was EXACTLY as Rory said - it didn't REMOVE my pain, but it sure distracted me for a few minutes! I love EF!

Incidentally, I feel much better today after a good sleep. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions!
