I just bought my very first car today, and I was curious, what was your first car? Was it brand new, used, what kind of condition was it in? How old was it? What color was it? Would you still drive it today?
Congratulations on your first car! How fun. And necessary in a lot of places. (The County I live in has NO Public Transportation so a car is necessary.)
My first car was a 1979 Ford Mustang. It was beautiful, and sexy and I looked good driving it.......it was a piece of crap. The transmission was dying and I didn't know it, they jerry rigged it until the warrentee wore out, then I though I was shit out of luck. Luckily, my dad stepped in and for SOME reason, they decided to replace the transmission, despite telling me (a 22 year old woman) that they couldn't do it. Personally, I think my dad threatened them with the Mafia. He does things like that, despite the fact that, AFAIK we have no connection with the Mafia. But, due to our heritage, people believe it, and it got my car fixed. It was a brown car, but had metal flake paint, so it was cool.
The first thing The Man and I did when we got home from our honey moon was to get rid of that car. It made weird noises it was always in the shop. I spent time sitting in the front seat of tow trucks, with my "sexy" Mustang being dragged behind us to the shop. We bought a bitty Mitsubishi, which had the BEST mileage of any car I have EVER owned, but we had to get rid of that when I was pregnant with our second baby, because two car seats wouldn't fit in it. Since then I have had a multitude or minivans, a Jeep (a piece of crap) and now, my Minivan phase is over.
Now,I have a PT Cruiser, I love this little car, but is always in the shop. Good looking cars and I don't get along, I guess.
I have never had a new car. *sigh* Always had to deal with the stuff associated with used cars.
