Last week I was started on a prescription cough syrup with cherry flavor. I don't know why, but I think it tastes awesome. I love the taste of Peptobismol too. French fries ... more
This is a very interesting question. I'm a pastry chef and I love to hear what things people are eating...

I love to death habanero salsa and habanero chilies with almost everything. Lately with all of the deconstructed desserts and dishes coming out of Ferrand Adria at "Il Bulli" I have noticed that many Americans are more willing to try new and exciting foods. I'm half Spanish and half french, so with that combination of cultures you bet your ass I grew up eating the most f*d up foods as a kid. Chicharron.. escargot.. chorizo (blood sausage).. rattle snake is yummy.. donkey meats are always good.. calf brain tacos.. needless to say the delectable sweets like hot chocolate cinnamon and spicy pepper.. and lingonberry jams with braunschweiger pate.

Shit I could go on for years about all of the weird yet incredibly yummy foods I eat.

WOAH WOAH WOAH!!!!! HANG ON!

Can you get these Herr chips in the US????????? I have never heard of them, but I am about to start mad hunting.

(Ketchup is a REALLY common chip flavour in Canada, but I can't find it here in the US and I have been craving that tongue-ripping ketchup flavour....)

answered my own question. They are available in central/east USA.

I has a sad. I was totally ready to make a ketchup trip drive but alas! I would have to cross a few states first.

Lucky kids!

I was brought up in a meat and potatoes household. It wasn't until I moved out of the area I grew up in that I got to try REALLY GOOD food. Heck, I didn't even have American-Chinese food until I was 16!

I don't know if I can think of anything that is really weird that I like?

I love the way Pepto tastes. I love sushi, calamari, frog, crayfish, roe (s0me kinds). I was born in Gettysburg, and everyone back home hunts so I have eaten a lot of things that people in the city have never eaten: Rabbit, Quail, Deer (meat, heart, liver). I love steak, and as long as it fresh I can handle it bloody raw all the way to the whole way burnt.

When I was a kid, my one grandma used to make waffles with peanut butter and sliced up bananas on them, and every now and then I get hungry for that. I love burnt bacon (especially with a little maple syrup on it).

If I ever have kids, that's how I want to raise them in terms of culinary exposure.

Good! I never agreed with people feeding their kids bland processed foods... always seemed unhealthy as well as poor conditioning to me.

I eat everything. Probably some of the weirder things I like are tripe, washed rind cheeses, raw milk, pig's feet, etc. I also really love beets, turnips, brussel spouts and all those other highly stigmatized vegetables. These aren't really weird foods but I guess it's not typical for people in the United States to eat them as often as I do.

My sister's boyfriend is 19 and he seems to have the taste in food of little kid. He's such a picky eater too - she's been trying to figure out how to get him to try other things. He seems to only like things like popcorn, pizza, orange soda, & chocolate milk. I feel that it's because his parents never helped him to branch out.

I love beets, especially in my salads. You should have seen the look on my partner's face when I got him to try a brussel sprout for the first time. Ha ha! He hated it.

Ah ha! You're very right, I have not seen any bags of All Dressed (= all yum) down here either. And a few others (including dill pickle). So sad.

All the pickle juice swiggers in this thread would love dill pickle chips, I bet.

(Randomly, all these chip flavours can be ordered here: link)

OMG, I'm not the only Haggis lover here? You have just made my day. I adore haggis, but no one else in my family likes it, so we never have it.

Tamarind chutney. I swear, I could eat that stuff by itself.

Mac'n'cheese with sharp cheddar melted in, peas, and bacon.

Goat curry, but only from this one little Indian restaurant near my university.

Gator meatballs. 'Nuff said.

Dishes with lots of hot, hot peppers (Jalapeno, Thai chili pepper, etc.) and plenty of spices.

Exotic Durian fruit frozen cold.

Yummy snake soup in winter to keep me warm.

One year, my dad took the heart from the deer he tagged and put it in the brine of pickled bologna. They said it was good...I'm not one for eating internal organs, myself.

Grilled cheese dipped in katchup.

PB and sliced kiwi instead of banana.

I like to peel a potato, slice it and eat it with salt on it. Raw!
