With the way things change so quickly, I don't buy technology/gadgets during their launch anymore.

I only buy new gadgets when I feel like it is something I need, or if my current one breaks.

FOr example I didn't run out and buy a tablet when they came out because I felt that it wasn't something I need. When my Laptop broke, I went right out and got a new one right away since I feel like I need it more.

I tend to buy new gadgets when my old ones break. Sometimes I get upset when I can't replace my old ones with something closer to what I used to have. I'm dreading the day my cell phone dies, because I really don't want or need a smartphone.

This post is coming to you from my first laptop, a Mac. I'm probably going to buy another computer, a tower, before this breaks down past use, because it's too expensive and heavy to drag everywhere, and it's very difficult to use this for higher tiers of work. So... Yes, I will buy something before I *need* it, but I am in a tricky situation.

Considering how often they come up with "new and improved" versions of the popular gadgets, I usually just use what I already have until it's totally dead (as in, won't even turn on or charge or anything), then replace said gadget with whatever is within my budget at the time.
