So I was wondering how many people here freak out and lose their mind when their power goes out for more than 8 hours, whether due to construction, storms etc. Do you get insanely bored without all your techno gadgets running (computer) and no internet?

I ask because my power was out for a day a couple weeks ago and I felt so lost without it. Makes you realize how dependent you are on electricity.

It doesn't bother me, as long as I can save my food. I just end up talking to my friends and finding places that I can still hang out comfortably

The only part that bothers me is the heat after a hurricane blows through and it takes a day or three for the electricity for the A/C to come back on. I pretty much read books or write in my notebooks or some other quiet thing that doesn't expend too much energy.

I tend to get a little bit scared of the dark but I can entertain myself easily enough if there's no power. I usually work on craft projects during the day and play card or board games with my mother at night.

Me, I live in rural China. If the power doesn't go out at least once a week I get worried.

Usually I get excited when the power is out for a day. I get to read, do some puttering around the house, relax for the day... and if the power is still out at night? Then I get to read by candlelight, enjoy a sensual shower, then curl up in bed with a novel by candlelight and just enjoy the scents of the candles.

I like it!!!

There's been times that my powers been out for a week or so at a time, during the winter. Thankfully that hasn't happened in a few years, but when it does happen? I go to a hotel that has power.

For just regular power outages that last about 8 hours...
If my laptop is charged, or my ipod touch is charged, I'll play around on one of them (obviously without internet, of course) for awhile. Or, more frequently, I just take a nap.

We were without for over 50 hours earlier this week. Lost everything in the freezer, etc.

I started worrying then because we had no fans, no A/C and my mother is in poor health.

i feel like an animal when power goes out can use anything and feel like i have to just waited out i literally do nothing and when it comes back i feel like a surviver lol

The food is usually the worst worry for me. When power goes out for a week, tho, it kind of sucks..
