Where Do You Keep Your Peanut Butter?

Contributor: darthkitt3n darthkitt3n
I'm just kind of curious how many people keep their peanut butter in the refrigerator versus how many keep it in a cupboard. I found mine in the fridge and got somewhat crabby, since rock hard peanut butter isn't very easy to spread on bread .

I only keep it in the fridge if it is organic peanut butter or soy nut butter. If it is likely to separate, I keep it in the fridge. Usual peanut butter goes in the cupboard.

My mom always put it in the fridge, nothing like tearing up the bread when you are trying to spread it.

Our is kept in the cupboard.

I'm allergic to it. So are two of my kids. I think the one kid who isn't allergic has a jar of it somewhere. She only buys organic peanut butter and that has to be kept in the refrigerator.

I do eat nut butter, and those have to be kept in the refrigerator, although they spread only if they are at room temperature, so I put nut butter in the microwave.

It goes in the fridge if it's natural but typically in the cupboard because as a PB-holic, I too get crabby when someone messes with my PB! (Have you ever tried Peanut Butter & Co.? Amazing!)

Most organic nut butters DO have to be kept in the fridge, because the oils are not hydrogenated and they contain no preservatives, so they will turn rancid if not kept cold.

Organic PB goes in the fridge (bc it has no preservatives) and the other stuff goes in the cabinet. We've been buying Trader Joe's PB for a while now and I like it so much better. 2 total ingredients: peanuts & salt. And shockingly, it's under $2.

I keep mine in the pantry, but, like P'Gell said when I get organic, I keep it in the fridge.

IN the cupboard, and it is always running out. Only buy organic all natural. Just peanuts no hydrogenated oils!!

When we buy organic butter we keep it in the fridge, if we have regualr peanut butter we keep it out beside our phone.

Same here. Regular PB goes in the cupboard, the organic/all natural stuff goes in the fridge due to the separation issue.

Cupboard, unless it is one of the organic ones that requires refrigeration.

It was kept in the fridge for my whole childhood, so until this past year I just assumed it needed to be refrigerated. Now I just keep it in the cupboard.

I love their dark chocolate peanut butter! Some days I will eat just about everything with peanut butter on it.

This is why ours is kept in the fridge although we mix extra oil into it after we get it to help with the hardness factor of cold peanut butter.
