Which of these "endangered" classes did/do you have at your school?

Contributor: spiced spiced
I've been reading about the changes in schools lately. It seems as if some of my favorite classes aren't even offered in a lot of schools nowadays, as schools cope with tight budgets and concentrate more on preparing students to pass standardized tests.

How about you? Did your school have any or all of these, or none? And for additional discussion, what did your school not offer that you would have liked to study?

At my high school, we actually had all of those classes.

My university has cut the theater (or drama) department in the past few years and now you have to pay extra for phys. ed classes, which were also cut down to a bare minimum. We still have a full art and music department.

Honestly, I think the way Phys Ed is done in schools is pretty bad, so I'm kinda glad to hear that it's "endangered." Though, it would be better if they would just make it better instead of getting rid of it.

My school had all of those. Out art classes were photography, ceramics, and drawing. We had a woodshop class when I first started as a Freshman, but it got taken away when some kid cut his finger off.

I actually liked PE. I mean, I hated running the mile, changing, and playing basketball, but I really liked hockey, baseball, dancing, and weight training.

I was a thespian for 4 years, so they'd better not take away Drama!

While I think that standardized testing is important, I really don't see how they can take away all electives like that. In my school we had to take 7 electives in 4 years to graduate!

All public schools i went to k-12 had all of these as an option/mandatory classes, however it wasnt until after the 7th garde were students actually allowed to decide for themselves which of these classes they would like to participate in. i took all of them except for drama classes.

Drama only came in in high school, but the rest were there from grade school. PE was a waste of time.

Drama classes were cut from my high school during my senior year Luckily, I was able to be in a play my 10th grade year, so I didn't miss out completely. I've heard from friends that the school finally added a new drama program, cause somebody donated money for it.

My other: optional religious classes, with no grades or exams or anything. One about Islam and one about Christianity that was also a bit about judaism.
Those were interesting, but the teacher in second class did not know shit about judaism. Most people in those were religious, so muslims in the Islam class and christians in the Christianity class, but you could enter without being so.
The only one I didn't have was drama, but the Christianity teacher would organize something similar (except also with dances, singing, poetry reading and stuffs) as an end of the year show every year, open to everybody to participate.

Those were all offered at the high school I went to. And I think they all still are at this point. I couldn't see PE getting cut with all the health consciousness these days, but who knows.

A lot of the languages were cut in the high schools around where I live. I wanted to take German but that was long gone. They offered Spanish, French, Japanese and sign language. French actually ended up getting cut while I was there too. I took Japanese and loved it though.

A lot of our campus stuff is very parent funded or the teams win a lot of stuff to get money for the things they need. Our marching band basically won every contest they went to to afford 3 new trumpets...

Our drama department has a lot of rich parents, so they will fund getting costumes, going to competitions, parties, etc...

Our language department is also REALLY dry. My high school only had Spanish...Depressing because I wanted Japanese, Russian, German, Latin...anything but Spanish. I guess that's what I get for going to school in SoCal.
