I've often wondered this myself! I generally do not like the pulsation modes at ALL. They are usually WAY too slow to get me anywhere, and the roller coaster modes do even less for me than just plain pulsing - because they get too weak and then just 1 short strong pulse every so often. If I want the feeling of pulsation, I really prefer to have steady vibration that I move around. If I could find a pulsation mode that went as fast and as strong as I wanted it to, I would definitely use it though! (For example, the fastest pulsation mode on the RO-150mm Slimline Bullet was fast enough for me, just not strong enough. I guess I'm picky! )

I like the fast, intense vibrations but the second I hit a pulsation mode I'm dissatisfied, something about them it too unnatural for me.

It depends on the toy, the power, and the pulsation mode. For example, if it's like this:
On... Stop two seconds... On... Stop two seconds... Then it does NOTHING for me, whatsoever.
If it's a fast beating over and over with little to no "off" in between then I will use it, but that's hard to find.

When I say 'I use my pulsation modes', I don't really mean me, but my girl, but I often request that setting. It's quite fun. Especially on Ina and a few of hers egg vibes, that give off a pulse at varying intervals.

I hate the patterns. All they do is piss me off. I never use any of them. I have one vibrator with one pattern I don't despise but I still really don't use it. The pulsating modes usually frustrate me, they feel very predictable when going through a pattern but never get me there. When I do use a pulse mode it is only for a very short time before I move on.

For me, the pulsation modes, especially roller coaster are as close to oral sex than anything else a small vibrator can do.
I find the pulsation in both the FunFactory toys and roller coaster the Ultimate Massager pocket rocket gets me close as possible. Then, if alone, I grab my Wahl to finish. If I were more sensitive (dang Clit O Steel) I would probably finish from roller coaster alone.
My Man uses teasing and build up and even percussion while he performs oral sex. So, I guess I am used to this type of stimulation.

I love pulsation modes!!!! On some toys, the pulsation is more of a tease, and on other toys (many, really) the pulsation is what I will often use to get off. I am more on the sensitive side, so the pulsation is a great way to get strong but intermittent stimulation.
