I think if two people are mature enough to get married, they are mature enough to pay for their own wedding. Who pays more may be dependent on the sort of income each has, but each should do their part.

I would think better communication skills should be used if someone feels "forced" to go to their own wedding. Both people in the relationship have a say. If one wants a huge wedding and one wants nothing, I would predict much more drastic future problems, unless the communication problem is solved.

My wife's family did most of the planning and up-front purchases while my family gave a lot of start-up money afterwards.

I think it should be between the bride and groom... if the family wants to chip in go ahead..

If I'm too get married.. we will be going to city hall & then off to a vacation to Disney world.. when we return we will have a small get together with family and friends.. but our family and friends our scattered all around the Country.
