I have an accent. If a Brit were to listen to me, they usually say I have a clean Canadian accent. Same with an Aussie or an American. All say I have a Canadian accent.

And when I listen to them, they seem to have the accent.

People say I have a accent. Some say Northern (makes sense, lived most of my life in the North), those who knows the "yooper" accent says I have it (which I come from yooperland), some say New Jersey, very few says Southern, Finnish (but I'm Finnish), etc. But if I was to have a different accent I would say a true Finnish or Swedish accent.

American Basic, with a touch of English thrown in because I've picked up the talking cadence from watching so much British TV. I have the ear for accents, and if I'm around them long enough I take them on as my own.

Yep. Everybody's got one. It's just that only people who have an accent different from yours will notice it.

Now if you're asking if I'd like an accent different from my current one: nope. I like the way I speak.

British or Australian I get told I don't have an accent by all my Canadian friends, which surprised me. I am from Ohio, and I am accentless to everybody I talk to. It makes me sad, LOL!
