Yelling at teenagers

Contributor: Rod Ronald Rod Ronald
Have you ever seen a teenager making fun of someone or pushing another kid and stepped in to say something? Have you ever lost it on a teenager and yelled at them? Did you fell bad afterwards, or was it justified?

I'm assuming you don't mean our own. As parents we would definitely step in and say something. Hopefully not really lose it. But alas we are all human and teenagers can be just plain idiots!

I do not care what age or sex--if someone is picking on a helpless person or animal....I am a bitch on wheels!!!!!!! Someone is getting theirs, and it is not the person or animal getting picked on, guaranteed!!!

(And if I bite off more than I can chew...my hubby is 6'3", 220 pounds of all muscle. He will back my butt up!)

Good, I feel better now, cuz' here is what happend.
I went to a RedBox inside a Mikey D's. There was about 6 or 7 teenage boys and girls at the counter. I was standing in line waiting to use the RedBox and one of them kept making "DERRRR! DAAAA!! DERRRR!" sounds. I ignored him and kept standing in line. Once at the RedBox the kid just kept on doing it. The cashier was a young girl and an obvious friend of the group. She looked conserened though. As I was picking my movie I see out of the corner of my eye a Mother and what I think was her mother. The mother said "I think we are just going to go"
The Grandma said "No. We are staying here...just ignore it."
The mother responded "I just don't have the patients for this right now"
I look over and there is her son. maybe in his twenties, obviously mentaly handicaped. This is no shit hard as fuck for me even to write
anyways
The kid kept saying "Sorry" and I wanted to fucking die. I have never felt like that in my life. I wanted to run to the poor guy and just say "What are you sorry for, it's not your fault that theres fucking assholes in the world! Why be sorry man!"
It killed me, so I snapped. I left my shit hanging out of redbox walked up to the group looked the kid in the eye and said
"YOU WANT TO TELL ME WHATS SO FUCKING FUNNY ABOUT WHAT YOUR DOING?!?!?!!?"
All the kids froze and the whole place went dead quiet.
The kid looked at me and just went white, another one turned his head away.
so I asked him again, and one kid said "just relax man he was just doing an Arnold Swatjdfwhatever impression"
so i yell back "BULLSHIT! YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WERE DOING SO TELL ME WHATS SO GOD DAMN FUNNY ABOUT IT?!?!?" he said nothing so I said "Exactly asshole, if you can't find a reason why it's so fucking funny then maybe you should keep your fucking mouth shut!"
sorry for all the swearing by the way. I walked back to teh RedBox, never making eye contact with the mom or her son, I felt like maybe I brought unneeded attention to there already crappy situation. So I went to my car and cried, no shit. I wanted to break that kids face. I hate it when anyon epicks on anybody for something they have no control over. It just eats me up inside. Anyways, i need a smoke.

Thank you. As a parent with friends who have developmental disabled children.
Like I said teenagers can be just plain idiots.

Thank you for standing up to them. I'd yell at teenagers who were being complete ***holes like that, since they were being vicious for the sake of acting cool

Not recently, but I did have a bad habit of pointing it out to my fellow teenagers in high school when they were doing something mean.
I wouldn't really recommend that though, it made me terribly unpopular to the point where a bunch of them used to pick on me all the time.

I actually don't go out in public enough to see things like this so I don't know what I'd do. I suppose it would depend on the situation considering I'm not much of a fighter.

It does piss me off really badly to see someone with a mental handicap having to deal with ass holes like you described though, my best (human) friend in the world is mentally handicapped and I'd do just about anything I could to stick up for her.

Wow. That was a great thing to do though. Sometimes the kids need to be put on the spot and called out. One of my best friends is disabled, as well as his twin brother, and I'm constantly seeing and hearing people make fun of them when we're out together. I have no problem saying something to those people.

I have to add something pretty cool to this story. I went into this McDonalds the other morning and ordered a bunch of Breakfast stuff for the office and what not. As I was standing inline I noticed two younger girls talking to a guy in his twenties and they kept pointing over to me. I stood by the drink fountains waiting for my order to be called up, and I could see the guy kinda speed walking around and looking over at me occasionaly. So I was standing there thinking "Is this guy going to attack me or something? What the hell is going on?" Anyways. He starts putting things in a bag and looks up at me. He gets ready to say my number and he goes back to the cash register. I think..."Okay??? What the hell is going on." Sorry, but I was in a hurry and needed to get back asap. So he fiddles with the register and goes back to the bag. He grabs it and comes out towards me. He hands me the bag and then some wadded up money. I take it and just stand there for a second. The kid says
"Go ahead man, it's okay" So I put the money in my pocket and he puts his hand out. I grab it and he shakes it and the wholetime I'm just like "Am I missing somethng here?" Then he says
"Seriously, thanks for what you did the other day. I appreciate it. I wish I was here, it would have never happened if i was here"
I tell him it was okay and he thanks me again. The girls are all looking at me like i'm some kinda idol, it waas actually pretyy awkward. Then out of nowher as I'm trying to politley walk away. he says
"My mom and grandma wanted to thank you too but they said you kinda walked away in a hurry."
So I asked him if that was his brother and he said yes, that he was going to meet them there before his shift, and when he finnaly showed up his mom told him what happened and he went outside to where the kids were hiding or whatever on the outdoor playground part and told them they had to leave. Fuuny part was he told me that his brother told him what I said and he swore a bit, which shoked him because he never swears , so I appologized for that like crazy.
Anyways, it was pretty crazy and cool. made my day, because I was so worried that I made it worse.

Good. I can't stand that. I worked with developmentally disabled children when I was a teenager, and we have a cousin who has Downs. It's just terrible. Kind of reminds me of a funny story, though. One that I think is absolutely darling.

We buy cases of water and it usually ends up on the bottom of the cart (duh, where else?). There's a checker at the grocery who has a huge crush on my husband and everytime she sees him with a case of water, she rushes over to lift it off the bottom and always says "SEE! I can do it! Look at how strong I am!", (and she is freakishly strong). It's just the most adorable, heart-warming thing ever!
