Everyone's been asked the question of what you would do if you were stranded on a deserted island. But, an island is too much like a vacation.

Instead, you're lost in the woods. Beautiful conifers surround you. There's a hint of oncoming winter in the evening air. The local fauna includes wolves, bears, cougars, rabbits, raccoons, and deer. So, what one item (from the list below) do you definitely not want to be without for your first night alone in the woods?

I vote sleeping bag because I can't stand the cold, plus I'll need shelter. I can easily escape the critters by climbing in a tree or something.

A lighter of course, making a camp fire will make the animals steer clear and then I could stay warm. plus im sure a flaming stick would make a good weapon to kill something small to cook..

Hopefully, being equipped with a compass would help me avoid getting lost... Or, help me to find my way out of the woods before nightfall.

I said gun, but it depends on how much ammo comes with it.

I would probably be screwed no matter what. I could use the sun and stars as directional guides, but it wouldn't help if I didn't know where I was.

As a mountaineer, all the animals are generally sleeping too and the ones who might be up wouldn't bother you. The nighttime temp. would require a SLEEPING BAG so you can get thru the night. Water (canteen) was my second pick; a vibrator was my third!!!

With an axe I can build a shelter, make spears for hunting, possibly build a fire (if you can find the right kind of rock) and defend myself if needed.

My second choice would be a bottle of Better Sex Essentials silicone lube and a lighter. That way my jacking off is covered and I could build a fire with it as well.

Canteen. Without water, you are screwed. You can make a shelter using branches and moss, eat quite a few wild plants and tree parts, and since I am a smoker, guess who already has a lighter? (Like a smoker goes anywhere without cigs and lighter?)

Axe would be the best thing, you can chop wood and build a fire. Make some kind of shelter and you can kill the wild life for food and danger. So it would make the most sense to me. If it is winter you can eat the snow for water.

I should already have my warm jacket on, so I'll need an axe to defend myself against both wild animals, and bad guys (if any) wondering amongst the woods. I should get into the habit of leaving a lighter in my pocket just in case.

"But, an island is too much like a vacation" Hell, no, not to me! A day at the beach makes me feel miserable! But I'm weird and sick of living in the southern U.S.

An axe or lighter might be fairly versatile, I had a hard time choosing, but chose axe.

WATER, SHELTER ( TEMPERATURE PROTECTION) FOOD, DIRECTIONAL FINDING, FIRE STARTING, Priorities in survival, if I remember my camping from forty years ago.
