Why are we constantly bombarded with news of which celebrity is hooking up with who or cheating on whoever? Do people really have such boring lives that they care about somebody they do not know and most likely never will?
There was an experiment where scientists offered a monkey the option between a bottle of water, and a photograph of the leader of the pack. The monkey chose the photo.
I think it's the "bad stuff that makes us all human" stuff that people love to read about. Lets them know we're all human and we all screw up. That being said, I do enjoy reading those magazines as something mindless to do.
I never pay attention, unless the line at the check out is taking too long, then I am stuck reading the stupid magazines and seeing who has the best bikini bold and what 40yr old has cellulite.

I think it is a nice escape from reality. My wife is celeb obsessed and she shares news with me randomly....it is just stuff to think about.
