When people get to that stage of addiction, nothing seems to get through to them. Freinds, family, etc. Plus, he is a "celebrity" and probably cuts people off when they disagree with him or try to talk sense. A lot of people brown nose celebs, and they tend to surround themselves with these people who always agree with them. Elvis, Micheal Jackson, Anna Nicole Smith, these people all surround themselves with people who will not confront them.
I agree, it IS sad. He's a funny guy. I hope he gets help.
