Teen pregnancy was pretty common in my high school, and I remember reading shocking stats at some point about the STD rates... Thank goodness I was relatively innocent in my teenage years. I can definitely believe those stats.

I was a virgin until age 20. I have never been pregnant, though I have had a temporary strain of HPV, that may not have been caused by sexual activity.

I have not had an STD ever- and I got preg when I was 19- had her when i was 20..

Rural areas with abstinence only education have the highest rates; seconded by inner city areas without access to free clinics like Planned Parenthood.

STD and pregnancy rates hinge on multiple cultural factors.

I was 19 when my husband and I decided we wanted a child, we got pregnant and had our lil man a few months before my 20th bday. Does that count? And I have never had an STD, neither has my husband. (He's 21 now, I'm still 20.)

Nope. I didn't even lose my virginity until I was 20.

I do consider myself lucky, though. I grew up in a very conservative environment with lots of religion and no real sex ed. Had I gotten pregnant, I'm not sure what I would have done.

I made it out of my teens without a pregnancy or an STI.

However, I feel that 1 in 3 teenage girls will be pregnant is fairly accurate. 1 in 3 high school girls however does sound like a little bit of a stretch. After high school, almost all of the girls in my graduating class have gotten married and pregnant before 20. There were plenty of girls who gave birth in high school as well. A girl from my high school just turned 20 and has been pregnant 4 times already.

Also, 1 in 3 refers to pregnancies, not births. I know plenty of women have gotten abortions or miscarried and didn't tell many people.
