How do you feel about company's wanting Facebook passwords?

It wasn't Facebook by any chance, was it?

Definitely an invasion of privacy and I would never agree to that.

Major invasion of privacy, even though my facebook account has nothing interesting on it. If you can't find their information with a search, it's probably a good sign that they won't post that many bad things.

Aside from everything already mentioned, fairly sure it would be a breach of facebook terms & conditions of use to give out your password, wouldn't it?

I'm totally against it. I'm smart enough to use facebooks custom privacy settings and having my password bypasses all of this. I have a public persona and then a side of me I don't let everyone see, a side which is free to speak it's mind and express unpopular opinions.

I use my Hebrew name for my Facebook account and it isn't connected to an email I would share with my employers. As far as they're concerned, I'm not even on Facebook.

I think that is insane, I would refuse to give them information to my Facebook account. What I do on my time is my business and they aren't going to sift through my messages and what not.

NOT TODAY! Props to fb for putting "don't share your password" in the sign up agreement

I see no reason any employer or potential employer legitamtely needs your facebook password. That is crossing the line into personal lives. They are not allowed to tag along when I am not on the clock; on the web or in physical form.

I think it's a horrible invasion of privacy. I would never give mine out!

And this is why I closed my "real" facebook account with my proper name and opened a fake id one. It's bad enough companies are forcing smoke free campuses but to ask my password for my personal account that I access on my own personal time? No way! They had better not ask me because this is one thing I will be very vocal on. I do my job efficiently and effectively. As long as my extracurricular activities do not interfere why do they need to know everything I do?

Besides, I work I Security and they always stress NOT to share your password for your company network access so why would I share my password for my personal accounts?

it's bad enough everything you put on facebook belongs to facebook so employers can probably see it anyways. but asking for my password is a total violation of privacy. I would choose to work elsewhere.

It's none of their business. Maybe, if you were applying or working for Secret Service, NSA , CIA or somewhere like that.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but, doesn't sharing your password to Fb violate the terms of agreement? I'm pretty sure I remember reading that when I signed up. Also, if you willingly violate their terms of agreement shouldn't they delete your account?

I understand why specific companies/businesses/i ndustries would want this, but, if you're willing to violate one company's terms of use/agreement what does that mean for the company you work for? If I were an employer, I wouldn't want Fb passwords or accounts only because, if I'm asking you for this, why wouldn't the employee I'm about to hire turn around and give private company information to their next employer?
