Politics and sexual freedoms

Contributor: RockDoc RockDoc
With the recent politics being so dominant in the media, I can't help but think about our sexual freedoms. Many states still have laws prohibiting things like anal and oral sex. I personally think that any adults that engage in a consensual act of any kind should be legal and part of our right to pursue happiness. So the statement I want to propose is this: Whoever wins the nomination and election for president should fight for our freedoms of sexuality and change the current laws when they are in the White House.

I both agree and disagree. I think that anal and oral should be decriminalized unless both (or more) participants have all consented and are willing participants. Only when one party is not a willing participant with consent given and forced to participate should it be a crime. It seems that with each generation anal and oral are becoming more and more common among younger adults.

I also think that the government should stay out of our bedrooms. What I and my consenting adult partner choose to do in this space is really none of their concern. There was a time not too long ago when the government had knowledge of who married whom and if a child was produced in that marriage, if it was even allowed in the first place, both parents would be jailed and fined. While the government still has marriage records, progress has been made but more still needs to happen on this front.

Perhaps this might be too political but the only party that could make this a campaign issue and still win both the general and electorate would be the Democratic party.
