GPS in high end sex toys with a mobile app?

Woman China Woman China
Lelo- Brasil
Last week a sex toy boutique in Brasília, Brazil was robbed and the shop clerk tied up as a thief made off with the 24-carat gold-plated Pleasure Object YVA, from our LUXE line. While the international media pounced on the story of a vibrator-motivated crime with much amusement, we immediately turned our attention to the serious side of the incident: how to prevent the same thing from happening again?

The brains at LELO have come up with a unique solution: GPS tracking. We’re now looking into the possibility of adding a small tracker within retailer samples of our LUXE massagers – our exclusive line of personal massagers made to order in a choice of either 24-carat gold or stainless steel. In the event of a theft, customers will be able to access a mobile app that will allow them –and them only – to locate the massager. It is our hope, of course, that it is an application that no-one will ever need to use.

Carrying a retail price of $2,180 USD, it’s little wonder that the YVA taken in last week’s robbery was singled out by the perpetrator. We sincerely hope, however, that this proposed measure will make other would-be thieves think twice – and will prevent anyone from being put in danger for one of our products in the future.

Ok... I admit that I thought the article was a little on the funny side. Then I thought "ohhh I want that!!! It's like bling for my snatch!" Then I thought, oh how sad but the woman who gets to use it might be happy if the motor is really good!!! Are my toys in jeopardy?

So did you think this article was amusing? Did you chuckle first then think about the safety of your toys?

What are you thoughts of people stealing high end sex toys?

I chuckled a bit. Seriously, how much 'gold' can you scrape off from a 'gold-plated' YVA? I personally will not buy something like that even if I can afford it.

First off, none of my toys are worth enough for me to even BOTHER with tracking them. Also, I can replace most of them on here with points. I think that if my house got robbed I'd have larger concerns than if they took my favorites.

Yes! Completely agree with this. I don't need fancy gold plated toys, it's not like I'm going to show them off or display them.

Yeah, I'm going with Rocky Horror.

I don't like GPS tracking on things. I'm paranoid they'd turn in on and track *me*. I'd be pissed if a 2k+ toy was stolen though. Not enough to want GPS on it I don't think.

They say only "retail samples" would have them, but I don't trust that for a minute. I don't want or need a GPS in my vibrator, but that said, there could already be one in there and none of us would know. Oh, the world we live in.

Wait a minute... $2,180 USD for gold plate? The GPS is probably worth more.

If I paid a lot for a toy, it would be nice. Some toys cost just as much as an iphone, ipad, etc. As for people stealing them, it's a bit weird but most likely they're stealing it to sell it.

If I had money to waste, I might really try a "gold plated" sex toy, but really, GPS tracking? How would anyone know I owned such a toy? How likely is it that a thief is breaking in my home, and does not steal the TV, or Computer, but goes to my sex toy chest??? Really????

Tracking of my toys wouldn't be worth it they can have them if they want them I can earn points to get new ones. I laughed that is funny robbing a dildo shop WOW

Anyone else when they read Bignuf's comment only really caught the phrase, "sex toy chest"????

Or was it just me turning green with envy because I want a sex toy chest too?

It is entertaining, but anything that valuable is bound to be a target for a thief.

I'm up for GPS tracked luxury toys! Partially because I want remote vibrators that use satellites and this feels like a step in the right direction.

I think it's scary that companies have the ability to put these items into their products. It's somewhat comical though!

Of course if one were lost in the wilderness during a storm, having a vibrator with a built in GPS might be a double comfort.

While I do think that for the price you pay for the toy that it should somehow be insurable...I really hate the idea of one more thing the government can just flip a switch on and say, Oh look, there's that vibrator currently at 1234 in Texas...wonder who lives there! Let's get Google to map that for us...

Wow that is crazy. But it made me giggle a bit. That is a neat idea though. Especially for high end toys.

I would probably never spend that kind of money on a toy cause to be frank, there isn't much in this world I do spend that kind of money on. And I did laugh. A lot. I immediately imagined the guy (or lady?) manning the gps from the business side of things. "Ok, it's in. Now it's out. It's in again. Now it's moving south by about 4 inches."

Completely ridiculous, I know.
