Should Eden sell porn?

Let me make this clear - I do watch porn from time to time and feel that porn is acceptable. Most "in the hole" sex shops sell hard core porn, whereas boutique sex shops, if anything, sell soft core and instructional movies. This site used to be geared more towards self pleasure but has been slowly going towards the boutique-y couple side. THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE. From a marketing and business standpoint you need to understand that selling porn would diminish that ambiance. Some couples do watch porn together, however, a lot of people would be turned off by Eden selling porn, and would either not try going to the website or actually buy anything from Eden because of the vibe it sends to them. It seems better to take on new customers for profit than to make a little profit from the porn distribution. By a "little profit" I mean that like music, porn is coming more available online for free. Also now that it is becoming more available online it has opened up new windows for other things online. If you don't like that they choose not to sell porn then you need to find somewhere else to buy it because I do not see them selling porn anytime soon. less

You make a good point about being picky! I was just relaying what people who run other adult sites on the net have told me about the situation, and saying that it might have been a bigger problem than "Eh, we don't feel like it anymore." I have worked with and talked to a lot of people who tried carrying it, but they just couldn't justify it anymore with the online business.

Buying it makes sense if you have a few brands you like and don't want to subscribe, but it seems like a lot of people aren't as picky.

There's an adult shop near my Uni that, while they really didn't do well SELLING porn, they're making money RENTING it like a Blockbuster. This seems to be a good model because you don't have to pay $30 for something you don't know if you'll like, and it'll conveniently disappear from your house until you want to rent it again.

I do think that it might be nice if Eden carried a bit of 'nice' porn that they felt 'fit' the site , but it's up to them! I'm just glad that they still have Erotica on here and such. less

The porn industry is up in the air right now, you just don't hear about it. It's similar to the situation that music is in, only worse. When there was no internet the only place to get porn was on DVDs/VHS's, or to see it on the TV, but now you can get millions of gigabytes of free porn just by typing it in on Google.

On top of that, why buy porn in disk form, where you have to store it and it can be found by kids, when you can download it from a site where you bought a subscription and keep it all on a flashdrive in your pocket?

It wasn't just a 'It doesn't fit the site/we don't want to' decision by Eden, but most places are stopping the sale of porn DVDs because they just don't sell when the internet is better/more discreet/often cheaper or free. less
