I have done it and received. If you have issues with the percieved dirtiness, plastic wrap or a flavored dental dam can work well (works well for issues with hair as well).

Once he got into the habit of shaving, every evening in the shower, it became standard, easy and no big deal. NEVER thought of waxing or other hair removal methods. A good shaver (he uses the Gillette Power Shaver) and a good shave cream (again, he prefers Gillette for sensitive skin), and he says it is "easy as can be".
I shave back there too, but rarely have any hair. Up front I keep it all smooth too. We both are happy this way.
