Depends on your age group. For high schoolers and college, definitely school (issues about people's age). For others, friends seem to be the best way.

I only say online, because while the other options allow you to automatically see the person IN person, there are more physical dangers, and online, you can also take steps to MAKE it safe. After all, that's where I met my hubby

This! Also you can cyber-stalk people so easily and verify that they are who they say they are. People at my school are creepy so I really can't see how dating people there is any better than online, but that's just my area and my experiences.

The library at a school or college. Just make sure you are in a very well populated and quieter area.

When I did internet dating, my go-to place was a restaurant on a busy street. That way even if we were in the parking lot we could be seen. Then, if they pass initial tests, we could go somewhere more secluded with my knives & mace in tow, lol.
