Before we got married my husband and I had a long distance relationship for about a year. It was really hard but no matter what we made sure that we talked to each other every single day. I think that's what really helped us get through our time apart.

I had to move 2000 miles from my girlfriend for work last summer. It was hard but we made it work... yay for skype!

When I was in the Army I spent most of my time away from her. I didn't spend more than a month with her the entire time, until I ended up having to be in the hospital for months. Time away from each other has helped our relationship throughout the years. During the first five years or so she could only take so much of me and would need some time away from me. I have mellowed out over the years and that has made it easier for us to spend the last four years together.

I was in a long distance relationship for a year and a half and I would only get to see her on spring/fall/winter break.

It didn't really work out well because of who she is as a person. Even with her closest friends who live in the same town as her, she barely keeps in touch. I was lucky if she called once a week. Needless to say, we broke up.

we're going on 2 years of being in a LDR due to the military, even though we're married with kids.

I am going to be long distance with my boyfriend for two years. We are almost half way through! Knowing it will be over in 2 years helps. And we talk everyday..even if it is just a quick "hi" email.

Currently it's been about 8 months of LDR with my partner, with 3 more to go before she moves closer. It's a challenge, but it definitely can be done. Staying in touch and communication are crucial
