Long distance success stories

This past year my girlfriend spent over 6 months studying in Africa while I was back in the US. While it was not the easiest thing we had ever done, we defiantly made it through and are still happily together and in love

What are some success (or even unfortunately unsuccessful) long distance experiences people have had?

That's wonderful, congratulations. As for myself, I've got nothing.

Wow, what a great story! Congrats
Unfortunately, I don't have a success story either. I tried a long distance relationship for a year (on an already 1 year relationship) and it fell apart not due to the distance, but due to religious differences.

That's awesome! I am currently in a long distance relationship so reading success stories always fill me with hope and joy. My boyfriend and I are currently planning on closing the distance in June of next year.

Best of luck! It gets real hard at times but if you're that into each other, it's TOTALLY worth it

WELL! I met my last boyfriend four and a half years ago when he was on vacation in the states. He's from New Zealand. We totally hit it off, but only had two weeks together. We then proceeded to date four years long distance without seeing each other at all. Honestly, we were still madly in love and the distance didn't drive us apart at all. I just couldn't stand not knowing when (or IF) I'd ever see him again. Not knowing when he'd be able to get time off work, if we'd ever be able to get him legal residency here, etc. Distance is totally doable, I've discovered. You just have to know that you want the person and that the struggles of dating someone long distance are worth it.

Not for me, but a friend of mine met his boyfriend online, and was long distance for awhile. Now they are living together, and have been for about 3 years I believe.

What are some ... more
Our Life Partner lives in Canada and we live in the US. We've been together for roughly 7 years. It's not easy but with skype it's easier than it would have been years ago!

Your story is very encouraging. With today's technology I think long distance relationships are much easier than they were in the past.
