I have been with my husband for 18 years. I really like him, so I think I will keep him around for quite sometime. He has told me since the first few weeks we were dating, "You won't be able to get rid of me, not even if you try to beat me away with a stick."

I had one that was on/off "it's complicated" for three years.
My most recent one is/was about 2 years in full, but now we're sort of having a regrouping semi-break type thing where we aren't seeing any one else but are putting the relationship on hold so he can really focus on getting other aspects of his life in order (job, depression). We're long distance, so the pressure he was trying to put on himself to keep the relationship seeming all great when his life was basically falling a part was rough, and it fucked up our communication. I decided we should just take it easy, be friends, work on that communication etc, have sex when it seems right, and when his life gets back in order we'll consider the possibility of a "do-over."

he's moved away now and has a new girlfriend, who has the same name as me...
and we talk on occasion. when he comes in town i try to see him. it's only about once a year. he's still a friend and will always be in my heart, no matter what happened between us.
granted, it took a couple years to get to that place, after things ended. but it can happen.

It was my first relationship and it lasted 2 1/2 years. Too long for a trolling (he was a /b/-tard,sadly) relationship. It ended rather dramatically, he fainted in front of the school and came to my house the next day in a suit begging for me to take him back. >_< I listed all the reasons why this wasn't working and he kept it up until I threatened a restraining order against him.
Hopefully my current one will last much longer than that.

Its hard for me to give him advice too because honestly - his dad was the only guy I ever dated, kissed, slept with, etc. Art was my "only" and while we got married far too young and for the wrong reasons - we're so happy now.
I feel bad for younger people nowadays. I'm praying that my son and daughter both find the loves of their lives and have an awesome marriage/relationship.
Anyway - it looks like for now - I'm limited to having a "grand-kitty" to spoil.

I have been in my current relationship with my boyfriend for 12 years so far. I am not married but we bought a house together 9 years ago so I would say we are still pretty serious.
