Sex at Home

Contributor: Ace <3 Ace <3
My girlfriend and I live at home with her parents. I'm in college and commute to school. This way we both can save a lot of money while I'm in school for the next handful of years (I want to be a doctor, phew!). While we try to contain our playtime to when no one is home, sometimes we slip up and can't help it. Most of the time we will turn on the TV louder and try to keep quiet. I've been trying to convince her to find an apartment with me because I'm not a fan of sneaking around, but she doesn't want to yet. Is it wrong for us to have sex with her parents and younger brother sleeping down the hall from us? Or is it a "what they don't know won't hurt them" kind of thing?

If they're sleeping down the hall then you're still going out of your way to make sure you're not being super obvious and I don't see anything wrong with it. I've had sex with a boyfriend spending the night while my mom and siblings were sleeping, and since my husband and I live with my mom and brother right now, we're in a similar position. It's not very practical for us to wait until people just aren't home due to everybody's schedules, but as long as we're not swinging from the chandelier in the dining room or something like that, it's not a big deal.

hahaha, that last part made me giggle.

I agree though, unless you guys have been specifically told otherwise by her parents. You're not being disrespectful and you're not breaking any of their rules. So "what they don't know won't hurt them"

Personally, speaking from a parent's point of view, I imagine they assume you are having a little play fun anyway. Parents aren't "dumb".

Your parents certainly realize that you having sex but just rather not talk about it. Hopefully they are having sex as well, also not mentioned.

if you have a younger brother, then chances are your parents were doing the same thing with you in the house. just keep it down and don't ask don't tell would be the way i approach it.

moving into an apartment just for convenience is a bit silly, but considering you're in college, i can see how the hormones could pursuade you otherwise.

I was thinking the same thing. They're probably having sex too, so why couldn't you!

I agree with everyone else on this, stay put and save money. I'm in this situation with my partner but we have the added benefit of it being an apartment detached from the main house. But keep doing what you all are doing with taking precautions.

I don't see anything wrong with it as long as it's discreet.
