I was wondering how many people dress up and take on the role that their costume indicates in the bedroom. For a while now, I've been curious about it--I have a fantasy where I dress up in a French maid costume, come over to his place, cook dinner, clean up a bit, and then go into the bedroom to fix the bed...and he follows me, one thing leads to another, and...well, you get the idea.

I'm a very open person when it comes to my sexuality, but I'm not sure how to initiate something as...involved as acting out a role with him. I suppose it's natural to be nervous about it at first. Do you guys dress up and role play? If so, what do you dress up as?

Also, any tips on how to approach role playing and costumes for those who have done it before, would be greatly appreciated. Like I said, I'm an open person, and my partner is too--he's told me several times that I can tell him anything, don't need to feel any shame over my desires, that nothing (within reason) is out of bounds...and still, I'm nervous about it! I guess I want to be able to really throw myself into it, and not get all nervous and weird in the bedroom while I'm trying to be sexy. Thoughts?

The only times I have dressed up or did any kind of role play it was very intentionally silly. We did 'scenes' like the nun and the pizza boy. I don't know if I can say it was hot but it was defiantly fun and we laughed a lot.

I first read that as "the nun and the pizza boy" as though those two naturally go together, and I thought, "well that's interesting...never heard of that scenario before."

I like the laughing and the silliness, too. If I were to do the French Maid thing, it would be hard not to giggle a bit, and I'd be surprised if he didn't crack a smile or two. I find the trust and the comfort to be a turn on--sex should be fun, after all.

Sexy clothing we have done, but not really costumes so much. They would have to be pretty convincing costumes or else I would find it distracting.

costumes can make getting into character easy and lots of fun, just dress up, the rest should follow naturally

You see, I think that would really work for us. We do kind of role play anyway. We could be sitting on the couch chatting about each other's days, having a drink, and then he'll suddenly ask me if I've been bad lately...and we turn into our bedroom selves! I don't think it would be that far of a stretch for me to dress up in a costume and take on the roles that I want.

I confessed my French maid fantasy to him (complete with, "don't laugh!") and his response was, "you'll have to clean the apartment thoroughly...and I'll be watching... vigilantly. Then, I'll flip your slutty little maid outfit up, and without a word, I'll take you...just suddenly fill you and make you mine." I was like, "That's the spirit!"

It's made me consider other roles to play up as well. It all just sounds like so much fun.

We roleplay a lot it is a lot of fun. I have quite a few costumes so it's easy to mix it up a bit. Usually if I want to roleplay I'll send him a text or something as the character so he gets the hint that I want to roleplay when he gets home.
