What to do if your partner doesn't want sex toys in the bedroom...? - from Em and Lo

A reader wrote to us at EMandLO.com this week to say that she can climax really easily during masturbation, but has never climaxed with her boyfriend. She wants to try out a toy in bed, but her boyfriend always gets defensive when she suggests it. He's worried the toy will replace him, that she'll want the toy more than him. What advice would you give to this woman?? Check out our advice to her here....

My advice would be to start off small with a small clitoral vibrator, something like a bullet. It also might help if she lets him control the toy, if he's using it on her it's still him giving her the pleasure. And trust me, there's no way a small little bullet is ever going to replace a man!

I like best the suggestion that he go toy shopping with her. I think the more involved he is, the more likely his worries will eventually lessen and perhaps disappear altogether.

Toys are a tool that assists with what is just one part of the entire sexual experience—He should be no more threatened or worried that a toy will replace him than she should be threatened or worried that his hand will replace her.

This guy needs to worry a little less about being replaced and care a little more about the fact that he's allowing his fragile ego to be more important than pleasing his partner.

Heh, I'd break up with him. But that's just me. If he isn't comfortable enough with toys than I doubt we'd ever be a good match. So outta there he goes.
