Has anyone used sex as a sort of self medication to treat depression? I know that before I started taking anti-depressants, it was the only thing that would help, and I had to have it all the time!

I have. I used to go through soooo much crap, depression was eating at me. So sex was my main source of "self medication" BUT I'm out of alot of old situations so I'm not depressed anymore! ^_^ Sex is still a good "medication" for ALOT of things though.

Hope you keep away form things that make you depressed. Anti-depressants won't work forever. =/

I'm kind of the opposite. If I'm depressed I can't eat and I don't want sex. Usually depression makes me want to sleep every minute of the day away.

I'm the same. I've been dealing with clinical depression for about 7 years. I guess there are lots of different types of depression, and for me, I don't want it or enjoy it.

I think what it is for me is that it makes me feel wanted, which makes me feel better for the time being. I suppose it's less when I'm depressed and more when I'm having anxiety issues, or when I'm stressed.

That is definitely understandable. We all see it differently.
